Our Commitment
Tondu RFC is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all players, members, volunteers, coaches, officials, parents, and supporters. Everyone involved with the club is expected to uphold the values of rugby and represent the club with pride, both on and off the field.
Senior Players
As a senior player representing Tondu RFC, you are expected to:
- Uphold the values of Rugby Union, including respect, integrity, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Play within the Laws of the Game and respect the decisions of match officials.
- Reject all forms of cheating, discrimination, racism, violence, and the use of illegal drugs.
- Compete to win while demonstrating respect and dignity in both victory and defeat.
- Show appreciation and respect towards referees, officials, volunteers, teammates, coaches, and opponents.
- Recognise and celebrate good performances from both teammates and opposition players.
- Communicate your availability promptly and attend training sessions and matches on time.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, appearance, and conduct whenever representing the club.
- Act as a positive role model for younger players and club members.
- Use social media responsibly and avoid posting content that may damage the reputation of the club or its members.
- Demonstrate self-control and discipline at all times.
- Understand that any act of physical abuse, violence, or misconduct may result in disciplinary action and could lead to civil or criminal consequences.
Tondu RFC will not tolerate violence, abuse, or behaviour that brings the club into disrepute.
Junior Players
Tondu RFC is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of all young people involved in the club.
Junior members are expected to:
- Play fairly and follow the rules of the game.
- Respect referees, coaches, teammates, opponents, and club officials.
- Treat everyone equally, regardless of age, gender, ability, ethnicity, culture, religion, or background.
- Attend training and matches punctually or inform their coach if they are unable to attend.
- Wear appropriate playing and training equipment, including a gumshield and approved rugby boots.
- Bring suitable clothing and hydration for weather conditions and training requirements.
- Pay club subscriptions within the agreed timescale.
- Refrain from smoking, vaping, consuming alcohol, or using drugs while on club premises or representing the club.
- Raise any concerns about welfare, safety, or behaviour with a coach, team manager, or safeguarding officer.
Parents and Carers
Parents and carers play a vital role in creating a positive sporting experience.
We ask that you:
- Encourage your child to learn and play by the rules.
- Promote fair play and respect for officials and opponents.
- Focus on effort, enjoyment, and personal development rather than results alone.
- Never force a child to participate in sport.
- Lead by example through positive behaviour and good sportsmanship.
- Applaud good performances from all participants.
- Avoid criticising, punishing, or belittling children for mistakes or defeats.
- Respect the decisions of match officials and club volunteers.
- Support your child in enjoying and developing through rugby.
- Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times.
- Encourage young players to take responsibility for their own actions and performance.
Coaches, Club Officials and Volunteers
All coaches, officials, and volunteers are expected to:
- Prioritise the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of players above all else.
- Create positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with players and members.
- Deliver activities that are appropriate to the age, ability, and experience of participants.
- Promote fair play, enjoyment, inclusion, and respect throughout the club.
- Value and support referees, officials, and volunteers.
- Maintain professional standards of behaviour, appearance, and communication.
- Follow all club policies, safeguarding procedures, and governing body regulations.
- Hold and maintain the appropriate qualifications, certifications, and insurance where required.
- Never misuse their position for personal gain or influence.
- Never encourage rule-breaking, dangerous play, or the use of prohibited substances.
- Support players in valuing effort, improvement, and teamwork as much as results.
- Encourage individuals to take responsibility for their conduct and development.
Respect and Inclusion
Tondu RFC is committed to creating an environment free from discrimination, bullying, harassment, intimidation, and abuse. Any behaviour that undermines the safety, dignity, or wellbeing of others will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action. Together, we can ensure Tondu RFC remains a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable club for everyone.
